Rachel's. Paris
This weekend, I've been to a wonderful place with a friend. The kind of place, you wanna go back again and again until you've tasted all the pastries. As the menu is always changing according to the seasons and everything is home-made, this place might become my weekend-ritual.
This restaurant is called Rachel's. Well known for her cheesecakes all around Paris, she has now created her own coffee for our great pleasure. Once you step in, the first thing you see is a big counter full of pastries. The atmosphere is really american, in the 50's style, with juke box, Hampton's lights and shelves, printed sofas, trendy wallpapers and with country music in the background.
Dishes on the menu are all organic, full of fresh and seasonal ingredients cooked in an original way (maple glazed, for example). A great variety of salads, sandwiches and blue plates specials are suggested. My friend chose the daily special: bacon and egg served with walnut and figs pancakes, potatoes and salad. I chose: organic kale (still and always), pears, beet root, grilled hazelnuts and Minnesota wild rice (I wanted to keep some place for the dessert , eating has become a real strategy). Once desserts time arrived, everything became very complicated for me, as I had to choose one dessert over fifteen (figs tart, pecan pie, key lime tart, banana cake, carrot cake, chocolate cake, a variety of muffins and cookies and off course a wide declination of her very famous cheesecakes (Oréo, blueberry, caramel, vanilla…). The kind of moment, if you're alone, you can spend easily thirty minutes choosing which one you gonna take. Hopefully I was with my friend, I didn't want to make her wait any longer so I choose the Oreo Cheesecake, and I've to admit, they are really good!
I fully advice this place to all the organic lovers out there! Frenchies
